Nama Northwest

In 2022, I began a fine art practice that fuses natural dyeing, textiles, and installation work.

A dear friend proposed a collaboration for a large scale artwork sited in the Skagit Valley.

Bitters Co is a decor import business headquartered in a barn in LaConner, WA. They often host art exhibitions in the haymow of the barn, and my friend, Gail, had been wanting to place her work in a space like it for awhile.

Over the course of a year we collaborated on various plans and structures, finding our concept and honing our color and materials palette.

We spent a week at the barn, scuttling up and down ladders, combining and suspending our materials. The resulting installation remains my favorite piece of work.

Since that first, wondrous experience, I’ve steadily pursued opportunities for large scale installations

In our digital world, I absolutely needed an art-focused website to preserve and promote my work.

Working with Squarespace, I built a streamlined, image-focused site to document my art practice.

My Roles

Information Architecture

I structured the site to highlight specific projects and provide an appropriate amount of context for each piece.

Visual Design

Minimal brand identity allows viewer to focus on the artworks.

Photography

Cohesive imagery provides a clear visual experience of the works, as well as accurate comparison between pieces.

Compelling, accurate imagery is central to the site.

Each project card shows an impactful view of the piece - whether a view of the entire artwork or a textural detail.

With minimal branding, the artworks have space to breathe. The landing page builds cohesion via color palette. Within each project page, alternating wide and detailed images aim to recreate the experience of being with the artworks in person.
